Learning By Doing Initiative
The Learning By Doing Initiative is a series of experiential learning trips and projects that bring curriculum content to life. Youth will attend 4 major college tours in 4 different states to emphasize higher education and career advancement. The girls also participate in 4 community service projects to promote experience with civic responsibility. Last, the girls will assist in the planning and execution of 4 fundraising projects to drive home points about the social entrepreneurial process
Civic Education Curriculum
Focuses on a central theme question; How can we use our leadership, scholarship and career in service to our community? Using civic education as a basis, our program teaches girls social entrepreneurship skills as a means to solve the societal problems they explore throughout the course. The Prosperity Prep OST curriculum combines effective pedagogical approaches such as Inquiry Based Learning, Culturally Relevant Pedagogy and 21st Century Skills

Mentorship
We believe that counseling is an essential part of development in adolescence. Each student in the Prosperity Prep Program receives individual counseling sessions with a member of the Prosperity Prep staff team. In counseling, we help girls plan personal, educational and professional goals to pursue into adulthood. We also assess each student’s college preparedness to help them choose the high schools and colleges that fit their individual needs, a resource that many middle-school students are not offered. Finally, we foster intimate mentoring relationships to provided necessary guidance for adolescent girls who could benefit from positive female role models.
